Season of 7 billion hot dogs

Did you eat your hot dogs this season?

According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, hot dog season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, which is today. In that span, Americans eat 7 billion hot dogs. The council estimates that Americans scarf 20 billion all year.

Citing Information Resources, Inc., the council lists these as the top 10 metropolitan areas in 2011 hot dog consumption:

5. Chicago
